City Council – February 17, 2009

During the regularly-scheduled council meeting on Tuesday, February 17, the council:

  • Approved the purchase of the Vandaveer property using money from the general and water funds;
  • Approved a contract with Diesslin Structures (DSI) for renovations in the old hospital building;
  • Approved a bid from Ennovate Corporation for a heating, ventilation and cooling system in the old hospital building;
  • Approved a Great Outdoors Colorado grant application for local park improvements; and
  • Appointed Theresa Casey and Diana Porter to the Salida Recreation Advisory Board. Rusty Granzella and Dennis Ridley will serve as alternates.

Watch the meeting in its entirety below. Be sure to catch the open discussion among the council beginning at about 1:00:00 with Greg Amidon’s report at about 58:25. The conversation touches on sales and property taxes, the city’s emphasis on a proactive approach toward the current economic crisis, the occupational lodging tax (OLT) and kudos to the public works department.
