Join the Friends of Fourmile Chapter of GARNA for our annual summer hike this Saturday, September 19. This year we will explore Swedish Camp off Forest Road 311 in the northern Fourmile area. This is one of the area’s larger camps which supplied ties and timber in the late 1800s. Several cabins are still in reasonable condition adjacent to an attractive wet meadow. Join us for an easy mile walk to the camp followed by a more strenuous extension to an overlook of the northern end of the Upper Arkansas Valley. The aspen are beginning to change, should be beautiful! Round trip is no more than 4 miles, plan on being out most of the day. Meet at 9:00 AM at the boathouse/parking lot on the river at the east end of East Main in Buena Vista for orientation and to organize carpools. An SUV or high clearance pickup is best but there should be space to ride with someone who has one. Please bring lunch, water, day pack, sunscreen, hiking shoes & clothing for changing weather.
