If you missed the showing of TAPPED, (and Jim Olson’s presentation afterwards), you can see the Trailer here. Trey and I have been scheming to do some more documentary work like this. Please shoot us some comments below on this short piece. If you want to see more video documentaries, $50 a month gets you an ad on the left, which supports the Citizen, and allows us to keep growing and learning and opening up more dialog about our changing valley. Thanks for caring -bd

Great documentary, Bill. Made me homesick for the mountains. I will fill Laura in on our ever increasing battle here against the ASR wells. Now there are four proposed for Central Brevard, all less than 1000 feet away from the Indian River.

Dear Salida Citizen,
As a frequent visitor to the Salida area, I’m somewhat appalled with the ease of Nestle’s move into the upper Arkansas Valley. One would have thought that your county commissioners would have staunchly opposed a corporation replete with a history of exploitation and destruction into other geographical areas with a similar pristine beauty. But, just like water making its way downstream they’ve opted for the path of least resistance.
In this battle your county commissioners have mistakenly identified what the new “green” movement truly represents. Sustainability isn’t some fly by night issue. This is about our children’s, children’s future.
I’m heartened to see your documentary from the Tapped premier. You’ve captured the essence of why people are drawn to live in such a beautiful place and the responsibility they feel charged with in managing the local resources and environment.
This cause is far to important to stop the fight now. Perhaps a well organized boycott of local businesses seeking to profit from Nestle’s move into the valley would drive home the ultimate point. In order to sustain our world, we must steward it wisely.
Many thanks for all the hard work you’ve devoted to this cause.
Eli
Thanks for the good words. -b
Nice work! I would love to more of these types of videos out there. These are powerful ways of getting the message out. I can see a place for these as a way of holding people to their promises. I remember when Frank Holman promised to keep all of our water in Chaffee county during the campaign. If wish we had video of that to show people how he changed his mind (if he really meant it at the time) when one of his friends decided to sell water out of the county.
Nice work Bill, greta to see this creative type of media (finally) in our valley, and thank you for hosting the Citizen as a vehicle to spread the word. I hope more of this!
ps Nestle sucks
Nicely done, Bill…Thanks for giving added voice to our plight to: keep our own water in the valley, show the hypocrisy of Nestle and the other multinationals who want to own water at it’s source and treat it as a commodity, to show lack of support from our so called representatives who ignore the very people who elected them.
Bill, Bless you.
