Journalist David Barsamian was interviewed last week by Joice Fairchild and Kali Lynn for their weekly radio show, We The People, on KHEN.
Barsamian is the founder and director of Alternative Radio, the independent weekly series based in Boulder, Colorado. AR presents information and perspectives that are ignored or distorted in the corporate-controlled media.
The wide-ranging conversation between Fairchild and Barsamian covers US torture policies, the role of the citizenry in government and the failure of popular media to be an independent, critical voice.

From the interview:
Afghanistan has historically been the graveyard of empires. Obama, like his predecessor, the much-disgraced George W. Bush, believes that the United States can engineer Afghan society, that it can create a new Afghanistan based on the kinds of parameters of governance and societal norms that we take for granted here in the United States.
That’s not going to happen. That’s imperial hubris, it’s arrogance of a monumental sort that will destroy Afghanistan, leading to the deaths of many more Afghans, and not to mention US and NATO troops. It’s a failed policy … it will have no success whatsoever and the faster the country, the citizenry and the Obama administration realize that, the faster the troops can come home…
Barsamian will be speaking at the Salida Community Center at 6pm on Wednesday October 7, courtesy of the Central Colorado Coalition for Peace and Central Colorado Humanists.
