The Arkansas River Trust will be raising funds to support the new additions and improvements to Riverside Park. The additions will include 2 new playpark river features. A built-in year-round climbing structure appropriate for children and beginner to advanced adult climbers. And much needed bathrooms and changing rooms at the Salida downtown boat ramp.
Mike Harvey, Arkansas River Trust President states, “Spring of 2010 work will begin on an expansion of the Salida Whitewater Park with two new river play spots, a trail extension and a climbing wall.” The Arkansas River Trust is the City’s non-profit partner for this project. All the funds raised will go directly to the cost of the planned improvements.
The Fundraiser and party starts at 6:00 pm on Dec 1st at the Boathouse Cantina. A suggested donation of $5 at the door and receive – free appetizers – get ‘em while they last and $1 beer specials donated from the Boathouse Cantina. Also, you will have a chance to win incredible prizes – a Stand Up Paddle Board from Colorado Kayak Supply, ski passes from Monarch Mountain, and items from Headwaters Outdoor Lifestyles and Salida Mountain Sports.
Movies will be played through out the evening of Stand Up Paddlers. There will also be a FREE screening of the ski movie “Flakes” at 7:00pm to get everyone excited about the upcoming ski season.
Donations will be accepted throughout the evening for the Riverside Park improvements
