Seventeen prominent Salida-area authors will perform an evening of “Words” onstage at the Salida SteamPlant Theatre–one night only, on Friday, Nov. 6 at 7 pm. Salida Art Works is celebrating and honoring our local and regional wordsmiths by providing a venue where their words can be shared with an appreciative audience. This first time event will be much like an art showing, as it will showcase the talent of those who put pen to paper and are the artists of the written word.
Featured writers and poets will read their own original works in an entertaining “Day At The Park” stage setting. Lively interludes of break-dancing by Nate Calderone and guitar by Scott Adams will provide an engaging contrast.
Organizers promise a uniquely entertaining and thought-provoking evening, packed with inspiration, laughter, emotion and fun.
There will be a short reception following the show with special goodies and special drinks from a cash bar provided by the Salida SteamPlant and a book table. Meet and greet the writers of our area that are performing their words at this event. Wordsmiths outloud will be Nancy Oswald of Cotopaxi, Stacia Burton of Crestone, Marge Dorfmeister and Maria Weber of Buena Vista, Barbara Ford of Poncha Springs, Grover Ellwood, Paul Goetz, Jean Hanfelt, Sadie LaVercombe, Brian Rill, John Skinner, Laura Donavan reading for her husband Bill Donavan, of Salida and the River City Nomads poetry ensemble with Peter Anderson of Crestone, Lynda La Rocca of Twin Lakes, Craig Nielson, Lawton Eddy and Laurie James of Salida.
Come join us as we envision this night to capture, move and filll us with the magic only well placed words can do. Perfect for a November evening in Salida.
The SteamPlant Theatre is located at 220 W. Sackett Ave. in Salida. Tickets for “Words” are $7, available at the SteamPlant box office or online.

What a great event! I am really looking forward to the evening.
