Laura,
Kudos on your work on behalf of the Dog Park!
I produce the Salida Riverside Fine Arts Festival. The dates are August 14 and 15. There will be a community information booth at Riverside Park during the festival.
If you would like to bring flyers&/or a poster to the park on Friday 13 or Sat 14 (to the Info booth or the music stage) you can help inform visitors of the Dog Park and its location.

The dog park is wonderful and worth waiting for!
I'm happy to read the comments of one of the town's decidedly non dog owners, hopefully he felt the pet love coming through the video. He made some good points.
How 'bout it Dog Club? Railroad yard dog awareness next?
I hope there is lots of outreach to town visitors so they know where they can go to have fun with their dogs in Salida.

With the success of the dog park under their belts I would now challenge the dog club to expand their influence to include the R.R. yard which is and continues to be a defacto dog park with no rules and no accoutability. How about an educational campaign, or some signage to encourage dog owners to pick up after their dogs and keep them leashed or at least under voice control when around other people? There are alot of walkers, runners, cyclists and others that use or cross that land who I think would appreciate a higher level of consideration. Also, it is WAY not cool to let dogs go running through the yards of the residents of the adjacent Hillside neighborhood where there are other pets, chickens and burros. I have also witnessed dogs trying to "run down" doe deer and fawns up on the trails around Tenderfoot Mtn. These are not huge problems now but need to be addressed before they get worse.

Salida is a better community thanks to the dog park. Just goes to show what can happen when people come together with ideas and determination.
