Leadville may vote on pot decriminalization

Leadville voters could decide to decriminalize marijuana in the November 2010 election.

Leadville City Council on Wednesday directed the city attorney to draft a ballot resolution that will decriminalize one ounce or less of marijuana for adults 21 years and older, for private use only. Currently, anyone convicted of possessing not more than one ounce of marijuana is fined $100.00.

Leadville resident Kenny Karolchik-Griffin asked council members to change its code, decriminalizing marijuana.
