Salida comprehensive plan review

Dara MacDonald
A public workshop will be held from 4 – 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 4th at the SteamPlant to review the Housing, Recreation & Open Space and Economic Sustainability chapters of the Salida Comprehensive Plan.
The draft text for seven of the eleven chapters of the Comprehensive Plan are now available on the City’s website.  Please feel free to review the chapters and let us know what you think.  If you would like printed copies of any of these materials we will be happy to supply them.
These are still draft chapters and we anticipate making many additional changes as we move forward with the process, so please share your thoughts with us!
These drafts were created by staff and reviewed by the Planning Commission and some local citizen groups specific to each chapter.  The principles, policies and action items for the Environmental Sustainability, Community Character, Transportation and Land Use & Growth chapters were further refined following the January 12th public workshop.
Each chapter is organized with a discussion of the chapter topic followed by Principles, Policies and Action Items.  The principles can be thought of as goal statements related to each chapter topic.  The policies are statements of direction the City should take regarding the principles.  Action items are specific steps that should be pursued to implement the principles and policies.  Through the update of the Comprehensive Plan we are trying to determine the goals of the City related to a variety of topics and we welcome your thoughts.
I hope you will be able to join us for all or part of the meeting next Thursday.
Thanks for your help and continued interest in our community!  Please forward this email to others who you feel may be interested.
