The Salida R-32-J School District is seeking volunteers to participate in screening applicants and interviewing finalists for the superintendent of schools position.
The screening committee will meet Wednesday, March 17 from 4:00 – 9:00 pm. Screening consists of reading applications using criteria developed from focus groups to evaluate each applicant and to determine which applicants will proceed to the next step of background checks. Confidentiality is of utmost importance. Candidates’ names should not become public until finalists are identified. Approximately 23 people will be selected to participate. Selection will be based on balanced representation from staff and a cross-section of community members.
If you wish to participate on an interview committee you should have the following times available:
• Two hour training session to be held on April 5, 2010 from 6-8 pm.
• One full day for the interviews on April 8, 2010 beginning at approximately 8:00 am. Sessions lasting 1 ½ hours will be conducted for each interviewee. At the end of each interview your committee will complete a form listing candidate’s strengths and any concerns. This will be presented to the board for its consideration.
Three interview committees will be selected by the board, each committee consisting of 8-12 people. The school board will select individuals to assure the committees represent K-12 education as well as a cross-section of the community.
All participants will be notified by March 11, 2010 via email or phone call. Individuals not selected will also be notified by this date.
