Photo of the week

I won’t be posting for a little while as we are jetting off to see Laura’s family in Florida for spring break (from the Springs Airport, thank you). In the mean time, get ready for Mr. Steve Stucko, our new Editor. We’ll do a formal introduction as soon as possible. We are confident that this means good things for Salida and new media.

You may be wondering why this big news is buried in the community section under the title Photo of the week? Let’s call this the very soft launch of real news, located in a place that you, our faithful readers will appreciate. It’s called community.

It’s time to figure out where we’re headed Salida. Everyone needs to come to the table. We don’t need media that draws divisions.

This is the twenty-first century, and we feel it’s time to turn up the volume. Steve’s commitment to the Citizen team is the first of many big things to come in 2010. If you want to support this new media, video news (in HD?), our partnership with  OUTSIDE TELEVISION, and see longer investigative articles by veteran journalists, support us here.

It’s good to love where you live, in all it shades and seasons. I do love it here. Thank you Steve…Glad to have you aboard. You are just another reason Salida is a great place to be in this mad, mad world. -bd

I shot these very early this morning. I also shot some hi def vid for the archives (we love what you’re doing Mr. Harvey). Below I posted today’s weather forecast, so when I’m sitting around with all my friends having a cold beer at FIBArk, I may look back at this winter and laugh.

“If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.”

  1. Hey Steve! Great to see you on the Citizen team! Also great to see the Citizen in a position to get you on the team – everyone wins!! I can not agree more that unity right now is seemingly more important than any one issue we face – certainly when it comes to local opinions on national issues. The potential to draw lines and pick “sides” based on what is going on outside of our valley has the potential to divide us. No pressure!

Great pics Bill – you know me, I am already mourning the loss of such days. I love summer just like the next guy, but summer is easy to love, easy to be comfortable. Nothing gives me more joy than the sound of skates on black ice on a cold crisp December day, climbing through the woods in the solitude and peacefulness of a light snow……….long live WINTER!!!
