Free Workshop on Conservation Easements and Options Available to Landowners to Protect their Land
A free, public workshop on conservation easements will be conducted on Friday, June 4, 2010 from 9 am to 4 pm. This workshop is being hosted by the Land Trust of the Upper Arkansas, The Trust for Public Land, and Colorado Cattlemen’s Agricultural Land Trust. The location is the SteamPlant Theatre at 220 West Sackett Ave. in Salida, Colorado.
The agenda is designed for anyone wanting to find out more about conservation easements. The agenda includes: the Colorado State tax credit program, basics of conservation easements, appraisals, other tax benefits, use of easements for estate planning, water rights, and Federal and State programs that landowners can take advantage of to protect their land. Various experts from around Colorado are being brought in to conduct the workshop. This is a free opportunity for anyone interested. Lunch will be included in the day’s activities. The Land Trust of the Upper Arkansas is a non-profit, membership based organization that protects important natural, agricultural, and historical lands and water resources in Chaffee, Lake and Fremont counties to enhance the quality of life for people in the Valley.
