Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center honored the achievements of its Auxiliary at an awards luncheon at The Country Bounty on May 12.

The Auxilians contributed 7,296 hours of service in 2009, and have volunteered 473,764 hours since 1965. Director of Volunteers Margie Smith announced that Charlotte Vaughan won Auxilian of the Year. “Charlotte is always willing to do anything she’s asked,” said Smith. “She never lets nasty weather stop her—even though she walks or rides her bike everywhere—and she really makes an attempt to always be here.”
The Auxilians who donated the most hours in 2009 were Margie Smith, 1,815; Pat Leisher, 899; Emery Smith, 732; Marge Gearhart, 318; and Tina Giles, 298.
The HRRMC Auxiliary runs the hospital gift shop and other fundraisers and volunteers in many hospital departments and the outlying clinics. In 2009, they donated $5,922.14, including $2,000 to the HRRMC Foundation and $3,000 for scholarships in the healthcare field.
