We’re organizing a trip to the San Luis Valley to watch the colony of bachelor Mexican free-tail bats flight from the Orient Mine at dusk. The mine entrance is a moderately-strenuous 1.7 mile hike from the parking area. Wear good footwear, and bring a jacket, water, and a flashlight or headlamp with working batteries. The plan is to have a picnic dinner prior at Valley View Hot Springs entrance.
