The Chaffee County Heritage Board is working on a new project to document all of the historical resources in Chaffee County older than 1960. As you can imagine, this is a huge undertaking requiring lots of people-power. Volunteers are needed to help conduct a Reconnaissance Survey – volunteers in pairs will systematically drive in a pre-determined area and record addresses and take a digital photo of any structure, site or other resource that might be 50 years or older. Once all of the information is collected, a database will be developed to house all of the information. No specific training is necessary, you just need a vehicle, a digital camera, and an interest in documenting the history of our County for the education and enjoyment of our citizens. The county will be divided into manageable sections and the task should be completed in a morning or afternoon.
Staff from the Colorado State Historical Fund and the Heritage Board will conduct training on:
Wednesday, June 23
Choose either:
9:30 – 11:30 am at the Buena Vista Library
