13th Annual Tenderfoot Mountain Duathlon and Triathlon

Athletes, volunteers, and spectators are encouraged to spend their Labor Day weekend at the Salida Hot Springs Aquatic Center for the 13th Annual Tenderfoot Mountain Du/Tri and Kids’ Triathlon.  The adult race will take place on Saturday, September 4, beginning at 7:00am while the kids’ race begins at 10:00am on Sunday, September 5.  The adult triathlon course consists of a 1000 meter swim (pool temperature is approximately 80-83 degrees on race day), a 40k bike ride and a 10k run.  Duathlon course consists of the bike and then the run portion of the triathlon. Registration fees are $65/triathlon; $45/duathlon; and $100/triathlon teams.  Fees increase on 8/22 so register soon!  This is a great smaller event for competitive or recreational athletes with a challenging and scenic course.

The kids’ triathlon is open to kids’ ages 5-14; race distance is dependent on age.  Participants are split into four different age groups (5-7, 8-10, 11-12 and 13-14) to ensure that kids’ compete with their peers.  Registration fee is $20 and includes a t-shirt, light snacks after the race, a participant ribbon and entry into the pool for the remainder of the day.  This is a fun and supportive event and is a great way to introduce your child to the sport of triathlon!

Many volunteers are still needed for this event and are encouraged to sign up now.  Volunteers will receive a t-shirt, lunch, and a complimentary pass to the Aquatic Center in exchange for working a 4-5 hour shift.

For more information or if you are interested in volunteering, please contact Kristy at salidaraces@gmail.com or at 719-539-6738.  Registration forms are available at the Aquatic Center or on-line at www.tenderfootriathlon.com.
