GARNA, the Greater Arkansas River Nature Association, is hosting a medicinal herb garden talk on Saturday, August 14. Instructor Himani Ellis, a trained medicinal herbalist, will teach participants how to grow a culinary and medicinal garden. The group will also learn the benefits of plants, how and when to harvest and how to dry and store. The class will be held at the Salida Community Garden at 2nd & I Streets from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Participants should bring a hat, water, work gloves and a smile. The cost is $10 for GARNA association members and $15 for non-members. Pre-registration is required by contacting GARNA at 539-5106 or visiting www.garna.org/seminars.htm.
