Emergency Department nurse Cathy Casey was named Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center’s TRAC STAR of the Second Quarter at a hospital ceremony on August 9. The hospital’s TRAC STAR embodies the core values that guide employee performance: Teamwork, Recognition, Attitude, Customer Service, Safety, Talent, Accountability and Respect.
Casey was honored for her caring and compassion, excellent bedside manner and ability to remain calm “no matter what.” As one nominator wrote, “Cathy always has a rainbow following her! What a joy to be around.”
Casey was presented with a $200 gift check, a fleece jacket with the hospital’s TRAC logo, a certificate to be professionally photographed and her own hospital parking space for a month. A plaque with her photo will be displayed in the hospital.
HRRMC staff members can nominate any of their colleagues for the TRAC STAR award.
Runners-up for the quarterly award were respiratory therapist TC Rodak and physical therapy aide Karen DePriest.
Rodak was described by her nominator as “always supportive of others, willing to help and happy to be at work. TC helps hand out food trays, and shows the patients’ families how to find the exit when they are lost. TC knows her job and does it right the first time.”
DePriest was commended for being “the ultimate Team Player—her focus is primarily to make the job of her co-workers easier. She has excellent forethought, anticipating the needs of her co-workers and acting on them without being asked to do so.” She also “has the most positive outlook on life and it is contagious amongst our staff as well as really making an impression on all of our patients.”
