Rainbow Tree Missing?

I was running on S mountain this morning and sadly found that someone ripped out the rainbow tree!?! Why would someone do this? It seems they tagged their work, i.e. a painted rock left on the trail. Help me solve the mystery. My three-year old daughter is very distressed about this :)

Thanks,

Maggie

  1. Just rode my bike up there this morning as well and noticed that both of them have been damaged. Such a bummer. I was thinking some shovels and sackcrete could solve that problem in the future.

  2. I saw rainbow tree yesterday. Don’t know if it was sabotage or just heavy rain. We’ve had several dead trees fall behind our house with all of this rain, they just don’t have the root system to hold them in the ground. I agree it would be a huge bummer if someone was proud of pulling them down.

  3. I saw it this afternoon and cried a little on the inside. It looks like the small one was actually cut down so I have a hard time believing it was the weather. It’s just a shame!

  4. It was down yesterday at 6:30am when we rode by. I noticed this morning, like Lisa, that the small tree was cut too. Wonder if there was any damage to the structure on top of Tenderfoot?

  5. Maybe we should activate the Rainbow Tree Army and do some gorilla tree painting.

  6. Sadly, makes you wonder what the “art-o-phobes” will do in the wee hours if Christo’s project happens.

  7. ….oh, and Steve, its “guerilla”, not “gorilla”. You’d have to fly to the Congo to paint gorilla trees. ;-) But a nice thought anyway….we could put on furry suits and remain delightfully anonymous.

  8. Well I guess the ape suits would add a level of entertainment Mark. Thanks for the correction.
