First ever, state-wide sanctioned high school mountain bike race to be held locally

This is the first sanctioned high school mountain bike race ever! We are hosting the event in Nathrop. Volunteers are needed, please call 719-239-1940 to help out. Teams will be coming in from all over the state. More info can be found here.

Most all are new to cycling competition, while some of these kids, especially the Freshman are completely new to any kind of competition.

A big thanks goes out to all of you who’ve signed up to volunteer at our first race next weekend in Nathrop. If you haven’t volunteered yet and are available, we are still looking for volunteers to fill key positions. Please take a look at the positions below and e-mail kate@coloradomtb.org with the position and time you’d like to volunteer.
Course Marshals, Roving Marshals, Scorers and Finish Line Support are most needed.
We’re looking forward to seeing you at the Chalk Creek Challenge!

FINISH LINE SUPPORT/ COURSE CROSSING CREW (1 needed)
Sunday 2nd shift 12:00PM-2:30PM
The finish line is always the most hectic place of the racecourse. Parents and teammates are crowding around to see their riders finish and riders come through exhausted, fatigued, and in need of someone to corral them out of the way. We need stubborn yet caring volunteers to manage the finish line so we don’t get a bottleneck of people. A quick training session meeting at the Volunteer Tent will begin at 1:00PM sharp.
VENUE SET UP/ COURSE SETTING
All day: 9:30AM-4:30PM (lunch provided)
1st shift: Saturday 9:30AM-1:00PM
2nd shift Saturday 1:00PM-4:30PM
Volunteers will be working with League staff to set-up the pit zone, feed zone, start/finish area, and parking area as well as grooming and marking the course. Volunteers who bring their bikes (and helmets!) generally mark the course and volunteers on foot generally set-up the venue around the start/finish area.
