This past weekend, the Ark Valley High Rollers held their first inter-league scrimmage against the High City Derby Divas of Aurora. After spending an hour battling it out on the track, the rookie league landed a 130-76 win.
“We have been practicing for the past seven months and the girls are ready to start playing other leagues,” said Lisa Malde, head coach of the Ark Valley High Rollers. “Now that we have a full roster we lined up a couple scrimmages before the end of the year and also have a couple bouts lined up already for next year”.
The Ark Valley High Rollers practice Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at the Chaffee County Fairgrounds at 6pm. Skaters are required to attend two practices a week and serve on a committee. They are also required to provide all of their gear which includes skates, knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards, a helmet and mouthguard.
“We are looking forward to our first bout against the Slamazons out of Colorado Springs in January”, Malde said, “We will be stepping up our game so we can give them a run for their money.”
Anyone interested in skating or refereeing are asked to contact either Lisa or Michelle at arkvalleyhighrollers@gmail.com.
