Hello from FIBArk-
There’s definitely an autumn bite in the weather, but the FIBArk board members are already thinking about the next paddling season on the Arkansas River. I’m trying to set aside some dates at the Salida Hot Springs Pool for the Paddler Roll Sessions.
We’re shooting for one per month throughout this winter and are looking for any interested kids who want to kayak. It looks like there is generally pool availability Sunday mornings and Tuesday evenings. We are thinking of signing on kids with advanced abilities as mentors to help with one-on-one instruction. Presumably this would be in return for competition entry into events and other festival perks. Please let me know your preferences and ideas.
I am reserving the pool for Sunday morning Nov. 28 from 10 a.m. to noon as an introductory date. If absolutely no one can make it on Sunday we could do the Tuesday before Thanksgiving or the Tuesday after. There is a $5 recommended donation for anyone who wants to attend and let us know if we need to bring an extra boat or two. RSVP if possible. Thanks

So you have to be a kid to participate in these sessions?
Yes, these sessions are for kids that are participating in the FIBArk-sponsored Paddler program. The pool offers roll sessions open to the public on Monday nights from 7 – 9 pm.
