Free Worksite Wellness Lunch and Learn, January 12th

LiveWell Chaffee County is inviting representatives from Chaffee County worksites to attend the first in a series of free lunch and learn sessions.

“LiveWell Chaffee County is proving this opportunity to Chaffee County worksites so they can learn about the benefits of worksite wellness”, said Lisa Malde, Director of LiveWell Chaffee County.

Kathy Knudson, a national leader in worksite wellness programs will give the presentation, “Building a Foundation of Wellness” and a free and healthy lunch will also be provided for up to 35 participants.

According to LiveWell Chaffee County, overweight and obese people on average incur up to $1,500 more in annual medical bills than people of healthier weights.

The rising cost of health care has led many employers to explore illness prevention because it costs less than illness treatment. Worksite wellness initiatives are seen as a valuable investment in prevention.

Employers have also found that worksite wellness programs are an effective strategy to inspire employees to take responsibility for their own health, and contain health care costs at the same time. “We hope this first in a series of worksite wellness speakers will inspire Chaffee County employers to make wellness a priority,” Malde added.
