Registered nurse Valerie Redmon was named Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center’s TRAC STAR of the Fourth Quarter at a hospital ceremony on January 24. The hospital’s TRAC STAR embodies the core values that guide employee performance: Teamwork, Recognition, Attitude, Customer Service, Safety, Talent, Accountability and Respect. “Valerie is the star of teamwork in the Operating Room/Same Day Surgery Department,” wrote her nominator. “She has a natural ability to know what’s going on in all areas and facilitates things so they run smoothly. Even though she’s an “OR” nurse, she anticipates needs in the SDS department. “
Redmon’s customer service was also applauded. “Valerie is very attuned to patient’s and patient’s family wait times. She will talk to them and offer lunch tickets if they have a long wait. She also does her best to keep the doctor’s schedules running on time, for the doctor’s benefit as well as everyone else’s.”
CEO Ken Leisher presented Redmon with a $200 gift check, a fleece jacket with the hospital’s TRAC logo, a certificate to be professionally photographed and her own hospital parking space for a month. A plaque with her photo will be displayed in the hospital.
Leisher also recognized the two other TRAC STAR finalists: medical records clerk Alissa Margos and registered respiratory therapist George Love. Margos’s exceptional customer service was praised. “Alissa has a very pleasant, soothing voice over the phone that puts the customer at ease,” wrote her nominator. “She never cuts them off or ends the conversation abruptly. She takes the time to listen to what they are calling about. The same can be said with customers who come to the department. Alissa has received several compliments for helping customers. They have taken the time to write letters appreciating how they were treated by Alissa.”
Margos was also commended for “growing her skills daily” and taking a medical transcription course at home to help Medical Records fill a future position with that skill set.
George Love’s teamwork, attitude and customer service were all cited. “I see George out on Med/Surg passing out meal trays. He is always helpful,” wrote his nominator, “George always has a smile on his face. He is polite and respectful of patients, staff and visitors.”
HRRMC employees can nominate any of their colleagues for the TRAC STAR award. All three finalists are eligible to be named TRAC STAR of the Year.
