Rachel Rose Jackson is a Junior Honors student in the nursing program who accomplished amazing feats of humanity with a long-lasting, self-sustaining impact while studying abroad in Ghana in Fall 2009. She and a Ghanaian colleague established a non-profit organization that began to provide education and health care to Kayayei women who live on the streets in Ghana. The Kayayei Association was funded through donations from upper class Ghanian citizens and others and is currently a self-sustaining model. Rachel established the curriculum used for the Kayayei children’s education program and for the health care clinic, obtaining medical supplies donations and equipment. Rachel continues her involvement with the Association as co-founder.
Help Rachel get back to Ghana to further the mission of the Kayayei Association by voting for her and commenting on her application on the Students in Service Awards website. She has a chance to win up to $5000 plus an additional $2500 for the non-profit and $2500 for the sponsoring organization.

Thanks for taking the time to help Rachel. She is one of the most compassionate people I have ever met.
