Quiznos Pro Challenge promoters brilliant

by Bill Donavan

Nobody is as excited for the Quizno’s Pro Challenge to come through Salida as much as me.

Well, actually, the racer on this promotional rack card looks extremely excited. As a male cyclist I’m sorry (?) to say that I didn’t notice anything odd in the photo, until my wife pointed out that it’s rather revealing. Then, for good or for bad, it took my teenage son to point out the humor in the statement that he uses “one inch of rubber.”

Upon realizing I was the last one on earth to see this guy’s trim presentation, it was the graphic designer in me that wondered why the black banner wasn’t lowered? Perhaps the promoters had conflicts with the sponsors on his jersey (the marketing strategist in me). Then it occurred to me that they knew exactly what they were doing since more than a few people have shoved this in my face, asking if I’d seen it? Yup, now I have..ahh thanks.

Anyway, with all of the heavy talk of Ploughboy today, I saw this on my desk and had to post for your entertainment —or dismay.

On a serious note, volunteer registration is now open. My wife just signed up.

I want to shout out to Greg, April, Andy, Angela and everyone else working so hard to bring this amazing event to Salida. More here.

  1. I’m no cycling expert for sure, but that looks like more than one inch to me, Bill…

  2. Leanne, it is taking everything in my being (and I am still commenting, obviously) to not make reference to your measuring estimates, and say… what Scott has been telling you…………
(Sorry, I realize this is a serious news forum, not a place for childish humor. Any offense is clearly made without clear thinking. Yet another lesson in immediate feedback media forums……)

  3. LOL…yes….reading fine print about “keep it clean” and *refraining* from further commenting… now Greg, go over to the Ploughboy thread and post a serious comment to redeem yourself?

  4. That’s funny.

  5. I had a misconception of why other members of the peleton called Marc Cavendish “The Pocket Rocket” . Now I truly understand!

  6. There could be a medical explanation?
