Salida Starlets will join Dr Colorado!

I know everyone is getting tired of the fire bans and cancellations, none more so than your sheriff, but the National Weather Service just issued a Red Flag Warning for Chaffee County effective 11am to 9pm Tuesday; and a Fire Weather Watch for Wednesday that may well become a Red Flag Warning.  The rest of the week isn’t looking much better.  Therefore, I am declaring Tuesday a NO BURN DAY and will make that effective until further notice.

4th of July Festivities and Fireworks Safety

It is hard to believe but summer is officially here and the 4th of July Fireworks show is just around the corner. After receiving great comments regarding last year’s show, we will continue with the expanded display. The show should begin around 9:30pm, weather permitting of course. MORE>

Pickin’ n Paddlin’ in the Park – Free Bluegrass in Buena Vista Sat. July 2nd and Sun. July 3rd

South Main homeowners host two nights (6-9pm) of music by Whitewater Ramble and Oakhurst to benefit the Chaffee Housing Trust and the South Main Arts Trust. Admission is free. Beer, wine, soda and food sales will help raise funds for these two local charities. Many thanks to the motivated South Main residents making this weekend of celebration a reality! High Rollers hold recruitment and scrimmage in July

The Ark Valley High Rollers (AVHR) roller derby team is hosting a scrimmage and beginning a fresh round of training for beginners in July.

AVHR now has a total of 28 skaters which has allowed them to split into two home teams so they can scrimmage and bout each other.  On July 7th at 7pm, the two home teams, the Banana Belt-Herz and the Hurt of the Rockies, will play each other at the Chaffee County Fairgrounds.  Cost of admission is [...]

High Rollers scrimmage tonight!

Come watch the two Ark Valley High Roller home teams scrimmage as the Banana Belt-Herz take on the Hurt of the Rockies! It was a CLOSE match last time and came down to the last couple of jams!
