NO burn day, Wednesday, June 29th until further notice

I know everyone is getting tired of the fire bans and cancellations, none more so than your sheriff, but the National Weather Service just issued a Red Flag Warning for Chaffee County effective 11am to 9pm Tuesday; and a Fire Weather Watch for Wednesday that may well become a Red Flag Warning.  The rest of the week isn’t looking much better.  Therefore, I am declaring Tuesday a NO BURN DAY and will make that effective until further notice.

I promise that we… the sheriff’s office and fire officials… will continue to monitor the situation and will lift the ban as soon as the threat of potentially disastrous wildfire has dissipated.

    And what about 4th of July firework displays on a no burn day? And what about fireworks purchased at a roadside stand, are they legal?
