Long time local, General Manager and all around nice guy Rich Moorhead dropped off the attached letter yesterday. This was followed up by a note from Marketing Honcho Greg Ralph confirming that they are hoping locals will attend this event. Powder junky staffers at Citizen World Headquarters have checked with our sources in Teton Village, and have confirmed that the rumors about Jackson Hole’s old tram being purchased to wisk people from Salida to Monarch are not true, but we believe other good things are brewing!

For the last several years Monarch Mountain has been working with the Forest Service to revise our Master Development Plan (MDP). We have recently provided the Forest Service with a Draft MDP for their review, and we would like to extend the opportunity for the public to learn more about our MDP and provide valuable feedback during this review process.
The Draft MDP includes a mix of base area guest services and operational facilities upgrades, as well as on-mountain improvements to existing trails and lifts. In addition, the draft MDP includes new lift- served terrain on the backside of Monarch in No Name Basin. We are excited about the possibility of all of these projects and meeting our guests’ expectations for a high-quality skiing experience. Our goal is to have the MDP accepted by the Forest Service in the near future, which will enable us to propose much needed projects to the Forest Service for environmental review prior to potential approval and hopefully implementation. However, the MDP process is a critical first step in this overall goal.
Monarch will conduct a public open house to gain important feedback from interested individuals and organizations. The open house will take place at the SteamPlant Event Center Ballroom in Salida on June 21st, from 6-8 PM. At this meeting, the Forest Service and Monarch will present the MDP process and the projects included in the Draft MDP. During and following the presentation, we encourage the audience to ask questions and provide comments on the Draft MDP. The Draft MDP will be available on our website at www.skimonarch.com and, you can provide comments via email to comments@skimonarch.com. Please include “MDP” in the subject line if submitting comments via email.
We appreciate your help in moving this process forward. Thank you for your participation, and we look forward to seeing you on June 21st.
Sincerely,
