How crazy and desperate our political gridlock has become; we are now a country divided by an ideological gulf. Grover Norquist and his ilk have created a sinister fiction that too many Americans have taken to heart as A Great Truth: that all taxation is bad, and government steals from Americans and provides no value.

Council will now seek resumes from prospective applicants interested in becoming Salida’s Judge. Being a court of record means that the next judge must be a licensed attorney. Applications will be accepted until August 12th.

The Ad Hoc Committee for Friday Enrichment Days seeks community members to participate in a community gathering to assure that Fridays during the Salida Public Schools academic year are a day of enrichment, fun and learning. A community gathering will be take place from 5 to 6:30 pm, July 27 at the Salida Community Center.

The Chaffee County Commissioners will be holding two Town Forums to discuss the Sales Tax Revenue Ballot Initiative. These forums will be held at the Chaffee County Fair Grounds on July 25 at 6:30 p.m. and the Buena Vista Community Center in the Pinon Room on July 27 at 6:30 p.m.
