Chaffee County Montessori School is pleased to announce the recent hiring of two new staff members to supplement the current Elementary teaching staff. Lindsey and Rafe Quinton will be joining CCMS in the fall of 2011 to share in teaching roles for the Elementary I and II classrooms with Doug and Claudia Mann. Lindsey and Rafe come from Buena Vista and are familiar faces to the community with their involvement in programs like Farmhands, Weathervane Farm and Guidestone Colorado.
Lindsey will be working with Claudia Mann in the Elementary II program for children ages 9-12. Lindsey Quinton brings to CCMS exemplary international teaching experience after working in Botswana, Spain, Greece, Belgium, Netherlands and the UK. She has taught both in the middle and high schools in Buena Vista, as well as, co-leading the summer Farmhands program. Mrs. Quinton will lead the school’s Spanish program, as well as, encourage development in the physical education department with her dance and ice skating experience.
Rafe will be joining Doug Mann in the Elementary I classroom for children ages 6-9 as well as teaching creative writing to all elementary children and developing an outdoor education program for the school. Rafe Quinton comes from an educational background highlighted by English Literature at Colorado State University. He has also taught as of recent at schools in Buena Vista, as well as the PIONEER School for Expeditionary Learning in Fort Collins. Mr. Quinton has had active involvement within the valley through his creation and contributions to the Ark Valley Voice Newspaper and distinguishes himself through extracurricular activities such as cycling, fly-fishing and hiking.
