Spend the day with your family at the Apple Fest, September 10, in Buena Vista. The annual event takes place at the historic Turner Farm, 829 West Main. Step back into the past and enjoy the lazy atmosphere of the farm. Entertainment on the porch will feature some of Buena Vista’s local talent. Old time demonstrations of blacksmithing, butter-making, and pressing apples for juice are only a few of the available activities. Kids will enjoy pony rides, a cake walk, and crafts. All ages can pick apples right off the historic trees.
Opening ceremonies start at 10:00. Lunch will be available along with lots of apple pie. An apple pie baking contest is at 11:00. Bring your own pie to enter by 10:30.
A historic cemetery tour will follow the event at 3:00 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Both events are brought to you by Buena Vista Heritage. BVH owns and operates five separate properties including Turner Farm, the BV Depot, the Heritage Museum and the St. Elmo School House and Town Hall. The organization is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation dependent on donations and memberships for funding. Apple Fest is one of the major fundraising events for BVH. Donations are welcome and highly appreciated.
