As you’ve heard by now, there is a pro cycling event passing through our community in two weeks. We want to show the country and the world that we’re an active community. We’re requesting your organization or business’s presence at the LiveWell presents “Salida Moves” the morning of the race. See the attachments for more information. This short event serves several purposes:
1. promotes your organization (no massive banners, flyer/coupon handouts, or overt advertising, etc please) as an active organization.
2. promotes physical activity
3. promotes the spirit of our community (active & creative)
The vision is a non-motorized parade that would include such groups, but not limited to, bike commuters, police bikes, mtn bikers, trail runners, parents w/ strollers, dog walkers, mail carriers, townie bikes, Salida Community Center folks, roller sports, circus, hikers, dance troupes, etc.
Salida Moves is a fun event and an opportunity for the varied businesses, interest groups, and residents of Chaffee County to show the country and world what we value: an active community. It is also an opportunity to show off your business and organization to the thousands of people who will be in attendance at the USA Pro Cycling Challenge. There is no formal registration for this event, nor is there any fee, but notifying the organizer of your intent to participate is requested.
Simply show up with your mode of non-motorized transportation (legs, roller skates, bicycles, strollers, mobile assist devices, etc.), meet at the starting line at 9:45 sharp, and participate in the short parade. Costumes are not necessary, but a stereotyped uniform indicative of the the mode you select is encouraged.
If you bring pets, please plan to clean up after them to keep the race course safe. Contact Jon Fritz, LiveWell Chaffee County Strategy Coordinator to participate or for more info. 719.650.5225 or livewellstrategycoordinator@gmail.com.
Please consider participating in this event, (free to all participants).
See you Tuesday, Aug 23 at 9:45am on the F street starting line
