The inaugural USA Pro Cycling Challenge is only 1 week away! There will be many fun and exciting events in Chaffee County – the start of Stage 1 in Salida on August 23 and then Stage 2 on August 24 as the race goes over Cottonwood Pass thru Buena Vista en route to the finish in Aspen.
Please remember that streets downtown Salida will be closed starting 4:00pm on Monday, August 22. Attached is a map of the street closures. Please review these attachments and plan ahead! There will be highway closures throughout the week of the race from August 22-28. Please visit http://cotrip.org/content/usapcc/ for details and updates. Hwy 50 will be closed on Tuesday, Aug 23 starting 9:45 a.m., east and westbound, from Poncha Springs to Gunnison.

9:30: UPCC Race Teams Begin to Arrive Fans and spectators can meet racers and get autographs in the Rider Pit Area from the time teams arrive until the race begins! This is a very unique opportunity at Start Host Cities only! Rider “Pit” Area Location: Sackett Avenue (from E to C Streets)
9:30-12:15: VIP Hospitality Tent Open. Location: Start Line on F Street. Tickets available at www.usaprocycling.com.
10:00-10:40: “Salida Moves” presented by LiveWell Chaffee County. People of all ages may take a fitness lap on the race course – bicycle, walk, skateboard, roller skate, stroller, run, dance or just follow your heart. Free and open to the public. 11:00-11:20: Youth to Represent International Participation in the USA Pro Cycling Challenge. Youth will walk thru the Rider “Pit” Area to the Start Line and participate in the Starting Ceremonies.
