Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center will host its third annual Women’s Health Day on Saturday, October 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the SteamPlant Event Center, 220 West Sackett Avenue, in Salida.
Keynote speaker Susan Albers, a psychologist at the Cleveland Clinic, will discuss “Balancing the Scales: Weight, Body Image and Eating Mindfully.” Dr. Albers will share tips on how to beat stress eating and learn to eat mindfully.
Attendees can choose between eight sessions throughout the day. Seminars include “Self Defense for Women,” “Living with Food Allergies and Food Intolerances,” “A Baby Changes Everything” and “Healthy Bones for Life,” Other topics include “Dealing with Knee Pain” and “The Sandwich Generation and Alzheimer’s.” The day ends with a gentle yoga session or calorie-burning Zumba® class.
Brochures and registration forms are available at local physician offices and the chambers of commerce in Salida and Buena Vista, and at the hospital. Brochures can also be picked up in Salida at the SteamPlant Event Center, Salida Hot Springs Pool, Salida Public Library, Curves, the Yoga Center and LiveWell Chaffee County. In Buena Vista, brochures are also available at the Buena Vista Public Library and Bongo Billy’s. Information and online registration are available at www.hrrmc.com.
Space is limited and pre-registration is required by October 27. The $15 cost includes continental breakfast and a lunch catered by Michelle Gapp.
