Mayor Chuck Rose waves farewell

I would like to thank the citizens of the City of Salida for the honor of being their Mayor for the past four years. As my final term comes to a close, the belief that our form of government does allow one to make a difference at a local level remains. I feel that democracy is a fragile thing, and only with an engaged and informed electorate can we maintain the ideals stated by our founding fathers. I, once again, urge everyone to pay attention to your government and find a way to be involved. My thanks to the members of the City Council. They were willing to disagree and still seek solutions. My special thanks to every employee of the City. You are the reason Salida serves its residents so well.

Thanks again, Chuck Rose

…and thanks to you Chuck! It’s been an honor. -bd

  1. Salida was lucky to have a dedicated and hard working mayor. I hope he seeks higher office and continues to serve the people. :)

  2. Thanks, Chuck, for your public service. And thanks for keeping the electorate informed with our show on KHEN… it was a blast!

Best of luck with all your future endeavors.

  5. Chuck, I hope you stick around and keep the citizens informed about their local government.. Sometimes being out of office makes it easier to state your case and keep the discourse going. It isn’t all that often we see the efforts by our public officials that you have taken to keep the public in the loop over and beyond the regular meetings.

  6. Chuck- Thanks for the time you gave to the City and our community. Very much appreciated. Susan

  7. Chuck has been a true asset to the City, and while I have always appreciated his work, getting familiar with everything over the last couple months has made me appreciate it all the more. He has had my full support and I would not have considered running had he signed on for a third term. I will be sworn in this Tuesday evening, and I will watch Chuck stroll out of the chambers with mixed emotions– sad to see him go, but also excited to get busy and keep things rolling forward. The past council has done a great job of keeping Salida in a good financial position through these most difficult of times. In my opinion, the ship is on course.

I agree 100% with him that our votes and participation at the local level is the most effective way to have influence on our lives. I will continue to beat that drum, as I have seen several examples of it first hand over the last 5 years.

On a related note, I believe there are openings on the Planning and Zoning Commission. This is a great way to get involved without a giant time constraint. I am happy to discuss the position with anyone interested, or you can call Dara at City Hall.

  8. Mayor Chuck,
