Governor Signs Newell Bill to Boost Colorado’s Film Industry(0)

Under the Film Production Activities in Colorado Act, an in-state production company’s local expenditures must be at least $100,000 and an out-of-state company must spend at least $1 million to qualify for the performance-based incentive program. In addition, 50 percent of the jobs must be filled by Colorado residents, an increase over the existing 25 percent requirement.

The City of Salida is seeking information from software vendors for the licensing, installation, training and maintenance of a system to perform the functionality described below. All responses must be submitted prior to 2:00 PM on Friday, June 22, 2012 to the Finance Director, City of Salida, 448 East First Street, Suite 112, Salida, CO 81201.

G Street Closed Beginning Tuesday(0)

Salida Public Works Department will close G Street from First Street to Sackett Avenue starting Tuesday until further notice. The closure is to change the one-way section of street for two-way traffic. All cars must be removed from the area before May 22 to allow Public Works to make the necessary changes. Questions may be directed to Brenda at Public Works, 539-6257.

Milk Run Trail Grand Opening(0)

The public is invited to the grand opening of the Milk Run Trail on Thursday, May 24. The event will last from 4-6 p.m. with the ribbon cutting at 4:30 at the intersection of Starbuck Circle and the trail. Refreshments will be provided.

Chisholm Park Master Plan Meeting(0)

Join us Wednesday, May 23 at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers (448 E 1st Street) for the second in a series of meetings to create a master plan for Salida’s Chisholm Park.

Cruiser Crit Saturday, May 19th!(0)

As a way to help pay for the music lineup at New Belgium FIBArk 2012 volunteer organizers host the annual FIBArk Cruiser Crit. This year it starts with registration at 3 p.m. May 19th at Riverside Park in Salida, Colorado. The event is essentially a rolling-costume contest on classic cruiser bikes. It features parade laps, kid races and a criterium-style race on a course established in downtown Salida and Riverside Park. The Fritz will host an after party featuring live music by At the Water Tower and a silent auction.

For the second year in a row Salida will host a tour stop on the Mountain States Cup series. Volunteers are needed. Volunteering is a great way to see the action close up while getting some exercise.

Last night was the Salida High School Scholarship Awards event. Many local community members, area service groups and businesses support student achievement. Congratulations to all of the award winners and a big thank you to everyone who made these awards possible.
