The Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center Auxiliary installed its 2012 officers at a ceremony in the hospital on January 16. The new officers are Sherry Carricato, president; Leda Shovelton, vice president; Jean McPhetres, treasurer; Judith Eyler, assistant treasurer; Helen Wukovich, secretary; Barbara Preston, assistant secretary; and Tina Giles, director of volunteers. Greg Messmer, HRRMC vice president of ancillary and support services, installed the new officers.
Auxiliary volunteers work in many hospital departments and in HRRMC’s clinics, deliver coffee and newspapers to hospital patients, operate the hospital gift shop and help with the 9Health Fair.
The Auxilians also provide scholarships to graduating high-school seniors in the Salida Hospital District interested in pursuing a health-related career. The scholarships are renewable for a total of four years.
To raise funds for the scholarships and hospital programs, the Auxiliary sponsors bake sales, luncheons and a bazaar.
