Salida High demolition begins

Notice of Demolition and Request for Interest in Materials Salvage

Salida School District R-32-J is taking the next step in the development of the New Salida High School campus. As part of the regularly scheduled work, we will begin demolition of the Andreas Field House in March 2012 with the remainder of the existing High School campus starting late May 2012. A demolition contractor has been selected for the work and is currently sub-contracted thru the project CMGC, Haselden / Diesslin, with construction material recycling as a goal for the work.

With the long history and traditions of Salida High School Spartans, the Salida School District R-32-J wants to hear from community groups and individuals who may be interested in salvage or reuse of any of the building elements or furnishings. We are asking that interested parties respond to the following email link – salidaHSsalvage@gmail.com and identify items that may be of interest for salvage. The District will weigh all requests against the schedule for the project, and site safety, and work to help accommodate requests. If there are competing interests for any of the elements, the District may elect to solicit bids from the interested parties. Due to the construction schedule all notices of interest will need to be submitted no later February 17, 2012. Please include a specific description of the items that you would like to salvage, contact name, phone number, email address, and a brief description of your removal plan and intended use for the salvaged item.

The Citizen is happy to provide a forum for comments and discussion. Please respect and abide by the house rules: Keep it clean, keep it civil, keep it truthful, stay on topic, be responsible, share your knowledge, and please suggest removal of comments that violate these standards. Real names are appreciated, but not required.

  1. This is so sad. I remember how proud everyone was when the fieldhouse was built. It was also named after a terrific man. I wish this didn’t have to happen.
