“Full On Rocketships!” at LEON Gallery, 17th & Park, Denver, Opening Sat. July 7, 12-10pm
Jimmy Descant will be exhibiting the art he’s best known for, deluxerocketships.
The premier piece of this exhibit will be his 1952 Kenmore canister vacuum cleaner, painted metal flake green, on a beauty chair stand that still pumps up! 6′ high, side flicker flame engines.
Also showing Cyclops heads, New Orleans Galaxy Platters, & Robot Hearts for the masses.
On Saturday, 12-6, Jimmy will do what he calls “my Instant Art Event,” where he will build sculpture in front of folks, with what they bring. Very rapid fire, very personal, lots of debris, tools, and creativity! Pieces will be on a sliding scale, which the client can select. $50, $100, or $200 with a light on it! The last time Jimmy did this in New Orleans in Jan, he completed 12 pieces in 7 hours. He’ll be set up in the front window of LEON, like artist in an aquarium. Jimmy Descant’s official reception will be at 7 pm.
