The Victoria Tavern will host D. Bess, a one-man band who loops all his licks live, on Fri., Nov. 9, at 9 p.m.
D. Bess uses a loop pedal and records all of his instruments and vocals on the fly to create a genre-hopping mix of reggae, ska, funk, rock, hip-hop, dub and soul.
He just released an album featuring Toots Hibbert of Toots & The Maytals, trading
vocals with him on the track “Oh Carolina.” Recorded in Jamaica, the pair teamed
up this year to record a music video of them hanging out and recording in Kingston.
The album and video can be heard and seen on D. Bess’ website www.dbessmusic.com
The album, Man vs. Bear, features 13 originals tracks and includes five comedy skits
that tie the title theme together. Download the album for free or donation at www.dbessmusic.com
The local band Mo’ Champipple! is a colossal concoction of the Lazy Aliens and the Groove Farmers on Sat., Nov. 10, at 8:30 p.m. Don’t miss this performance.
