Ski patrol training begins Feb. 12

Monarch Ski Patrol will be hosting the 2013 Ski Patrol Training during the month of February.  The training is for those who want to learn more about ski patrol or who are interested in applying for a position on Ski Patrol next season.  Session topics will include patrol orientation, radio communication, patrol dispatch, clinic procedures, documentation, accident investigation, toboggan handling and scenarios, Monarch Mountain layout, patrol coverage and response, Mirkwood orientation, daily patrol duties, snow safety and other topics.

 Students should be expert or advanced skiers or snowboarders and prepared to spend the day in an alpine environment.  Sessions are scheduled for Tues., Feb. 12, and Tues., Feb. 19.  Sessions begin at Ski Patrol Headquarters in the Monarch base area at 8:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Total cost of the clinic is $30, which covers training, lift tickets for both sessions and avalanche rescue equipment rental.  For more information or to sign up, contact Ski Patrol Dispatch during business hours at 719-530-5111.  To leave a message, call 719-530-5110.
