Jim McCormick receives plaque for Council service

Jim McCormick resigned from his position as Salida City Councilman June 7. McCormick served for almost eight years as councilman.

“I have enjoyed working with city staff, elected officials and the citizens of Salida. I am resigning to spend more time with my family,” McCormick said in his resignation letter to the Mayor and Councilmen.

A native of Canon City, Mr. McCormick has lived in Salida over 50 years. During that time he has dedicated many hours to serving the community, including serving as Treasurer for the Upper Arkansas Water Conservation District. His business career includes 15 years selling recreation equipment, 15 years as a homebuilder and 20 years as a flat roof contractor.

On August 19th here will also be a dedication for McCormick Park, along the Arkansas River behind the Touber Building (448 E. 1st Street), that City Council is naming for Jim in honor of his service to the community over the last 50 + years.

Thank you for your service Jimmy!
