GARNA's Nature Series – Winter Waterfowl
Saturday, March 3 9:30 to 11:30 am
Next time you take a walk around Sands Lake, wouldn’t it be nice to be able to tell your kids and grand kids what types of birds are making Salida their year-round home? Because Salida-area lakes do not usually freeze during the winter, this makes for great habitat for winter waterfowl. Join GARNA and Sally Waterhouse for an introduction to identifying duck and geese species at Sands Lake State Wildlife Area.
This program is open to all ages and will be a great activity for kids and families.
Sally is a former biology professor at Ohio Wesleyan University, an environmental educator in both private nature centers and state parks in Ohio, and presently a volunteer for Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Central Colorado Conservancy and GARNA. Sally is also a life-long birder and enjoys sharing her knowledge and love of birds identification and bird behavior.
Detailed meeting location and times will be provided to registered participants.
The cost of the program is $5 for individual GARNA members, $7 for individual non-members and $10 for families. Fees support coordination and promotion of GARNA programs. Registration is available at GARNA.org/calendar/winter-waterfowl-3-3-18.
