Salida's Biggest Art Exhibit: "Valley Visions" Opens May 4

The 7th annual "Valley Visions" art exhibition, sponsored by Salida Council for the Arts (SCFTA), will kick off with a public Grand Opening Reception on Friday, May 4 from 4-7 pm in the SteamPlant Annex. Celebrated as the Arkansas River Valley's biggest showcase for established and emerging creative talent, the exhibit will feature forty of the area's most innovative painters, sculptors, photographers, and artisans.

All entries will be for sale at special exhibit prices. A $5-10 suggested donation at the door supports the Council's scholarship program for local high school students, and entitles guests to a banquet of gourmet hors d'oeuvres, live entertainment, cash bar, meet-the-artist opportunities, "first dibs" on the artwork for sale, and a ballot to vote for the coveted People's Choice Awards.

Artists featured in this year's show are: Joanie Barbier, Joe Beakey, Dan Bishop, Cary Carlson, Virginia Castro, Merry Cox, Christine Davis, Claire Deveney, David Eckstein, Thomas Franke, Linda Gibas, Fay Golson, Jean Hanfelt, Sue Ann Hum, Licia Iverson, Karen Johnson, Martin Jolley, Dvora Kanegis, Nancy Kay, Erica Kinsella, Teresa Koransky, Julie Maas, Jim Marshall, Sally Mather, Padgett McFeely, Denise Micciche, Jessie Miller, Justin Murphy, Jennifer Price, Judith Reese, Max Ruppeck, Jude' Silva, Richard Smith, Roberta Smith, Susan Spohn, Judy Sprague, Patricia St. Germain, Hannah Tidechild, Matt Varnum, and Mary Hansen Wolfe.

Award winners will be announced at the reception's conclusion, and will receive cash and/or merchandise prizes in addition to Award Certificates. All guests will be eligible to win valuable door prizes as well.
