Ajax Quartet performs in Buena Vista July 21st
The performance will take place Saturday, July 21 at Clearview Community Church, 457 Rodeo Road in Buena Vista.
"The Ajax Quartet has great promise for a new generation of Colorado classical musicians," said Ernest Marquez, vice president of Salida Aspen Concerts. "We're delighted to bring their blossoming talent to Buena Vista."
The quartet features violinists Tom Yaron and Renee Hemsing Patten, violist Mario Rivera and cellist Eric Haugen. The Buena Vista performance will include works by Juan Crisóstomo Arriaga, Ludwig van Beethoven's Op. 18 No. 4 and Antonín Dvořák's American Quartet.
The Ajax Quartet was founded in 2016 at the University of Colorado, and the group has already toured throughout the United States and the United Kingdom.
The ensemble's upcoming performance is made possible by Salida Aspen Concerts, a volunteer-supported nonprofit that has brought classical music to Chaffee County for more than 40 years through its longstanding partnership with the Aspen Music Festival and School.
The Ajax Quartet serve as Musical Connections Resident Artists with the Aspen Music Festival and School, and are also the graduate quartet in residence at the University of Colorado.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the quartet will give a pre-concert talk with audience members beginning at 6:45 p.m. before the performance begins at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $15, and students are provided free admission with accompanying adult.
