Pianist Anton Nel performs with Ceres Quartet July 28
Acclaimed classical pianist Anton Nel will perform with the Ceres Quartet for the fourth performance of Salida Aspen Concerts' summer concert series.
The concert will take place Saturday, July 28 at the Salida High School auditorium, 26 Jones Avenue.
"Anton Nel is renowned for his encyclopedic repertoire and masterful performance," Salida Aspen Concerts vice president Ernest Marquez said. "The accompaniment by the Ceres string quartet will create a truly memorable evening."
The Ceres Quartet features Robert Erhard, cello; Linda Numagami, viola; and Kyung Ah Oh and Brian Kwan Yeung Choi, violin. The evening will begin with Mozart's Piano Sonata in C major, K. 330. The Mozart Sonata will be followed by four works by Chopin: Waltz in D-flat major, op. 64 no. 1, Waltz in C-sharp minor, op. 64, no. 2, Waltz in A-flat major, op. 64, no. 3 and Barcarolle in F-sharp major, op. 60.
After a brief intermission, the Ceres Quartet will join the stage for Piano Quintet No. 1 in D minor, op. 89 by Gabriel Faure. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., followed by a pre-concert talk with audience members beginning at 6:45 p.m. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $15, and students are provided free admission with accompanying adult.
Salida Aspen Concerts is a volunteer-supported nonprofit that has brought classical music to Chaffee County for more than 40 years through its longstanding partnership with the Aspen Music Festival and School.
