If you are unfamiliar with this tradition, Day of the dead is a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico. The multi-day celebration, begins October 31st, all Hallows eve, and ends November 2, all Saints day. This holiday involves family and friends gathering to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died, and helping support their spiritual journey. In Mexican culture, death is viewed as a natural part of the human cycle. Mexicans view it not as a day of sadness but as a day of celebration because their loved ones awake and celebrate with them. Bring a pot luck dish which you can drop off at A Church from 5-5:45 p.m. on November 2nd, and after the parade we will share stories, food, drink, clothing and pictures from your departed ones and join in on the joyous remembrance of them. This is a colorful celebration that celebrates life and its continuous cycle. We look forward to seeing you there.
