Photographing the Sand Dunes-May 29-31
GARNA’s photo club is hosting a Great Sand Dunes field trip from Friday, May 29 through Sunday, May 31. The focus of the trip will be on communicating our individual responses to the solitude, grandeur, and stark beauty of this unique natural setting with photographs. The combination of otherworldly land-forms, the light and near absence of vegetation make this area an extraordinary place to see nature through different eyes. Local photographer Ed Berg will lead the photo talks. Ed has published a book of poems and photos to record his own responses to the Sand Dunes (Sand, Wind and Light).
In addition to plenty of photo–taking time, there will be an introductory talk on Saturday afternoon to discuss compositional ideas and camera settings, and a wrap-up talk on Sunday morning to share photos and discuss other techniques. For those not camping in the Park campground, a meeting area in the Park will be determined for the talks so that all participants will be able to attend the evening and morning sessions.
In order to take advantage of late afternoon, evening and morning light on the dunes, this is an overnight excursion.
The cost for the trip is $25 for GARNA members, $35 for non-members. The group size is limited, please don’t delay in registering. Learn more about overnight camping and lodging accommodations and register online.
