Salida Recreation News and Events

Summer is officially here, and the Salida Recreation Department is in full swing with programs and events! We look forward to seeing many of you this summer at the parks, in the pool, or at one of our many programs around town.

Tomorrow (Saturday, 6/27) we begin our Preschool Parks program for the summer, now at the Farmer's Market! Meet us in Alpine Park from 10 - 11am for some fun time with your little ones in the lively Farmer's Market atmosphere. Suggested donation is $5 per family. On Monday (6/29) we'll host a Community Track Meet at the Salida HS track. These meets are great for kids and adults of all ages - get some exercise and have fun with some friendly competition! Cost is $2 for kids/students and $4 for adults. Meet will run from 5:45 - 7:00pm; register at the track beginning at 5:30pm.

On Mon - Wed, 6/29 - July 1, we have a Summer Cycling Camp for kids ages 7 - 10. Cost is only $30 for all 3 days and includes lunch at the Boys and Girls Club. It's not too late to register, so call the pool (539-6738) if your child is interested!

Our Thursdays @ Six Concert series have begun, and this Thursday (7/2) we'll feature the Beatles cover band Dr. Roberts. This group has played for us many times in the past, and they are always a hit. Free, with donations accepted for the Salida Rec Youth Scholarship Fund. And also on Thursdays, line dancing with Betty Scofield has started up again at the Scout Hut. Betty is a terrific teacher and has been leading line dancing classes for years. Now need to pre-register, just show up! Classes run from 9:30 - 11am (intermediate) or 11am - noon (beginner) and cost $4.

A reminder that youth scholarships are available for all of our programs and events. Please visit [http://salidarec.com/scholarships/] for more information.
